Application: MockRoad — Driving Theory Test Practice
Package name: com.thehometoolspro.mockroad.drivingtest
Service Provider: Make Life Easy Apps
MockRoad (the “Application”) is provided by Make Life Easy Apps (the “Service Provider”) as a free application. This page explains what information the Application handles, what it does not, and the choices available to you.
The short version: MockRoad works offline and does not require an account. Your practice answers, exam results, bookmarks, and settings never leave your device. The Application shows advertising, requested without personalization, and, if you enable them, sends push notifications; those are the only reasons any information leaves your device.
1. What the Application does
MockRoad is a study tool for learner drivers preparing for a written driving theory or permit test. It provides:
- Practice questions organised by category, with explanations
- Timed mock exams matched to your selected region’s test length and pass mark
- A road sign library and a sign identification quiz
- A 2.5D parking practice simulator
- Progress tracking, bookmarks, and a study streak
All questions, road signs, and simulator content are bundled inside the Application when you install it. The Application does not download study content, and does not upload anything you type, answer, or select.
2. Information stored on your device only
The following is saved locally on your device using your device’s standard app storage. It is not transmitted to the Service Provider or to anyone else, and it is not backed up to any server operated by the Service Provider:
- Your selected country and region
- Your answers to practice questions, and which questions you answered incorrectly
- Bookmarked questions
- Mock exam results and your best road sign quiz score
- Simulator level progress and stars earned
- Study streak and the date you last studied
- App preferences: theme, sound, vibration, simulator control side, graphics quality
- Notification preferences
- Whether, and when, the Application has asked you to rate it
You can erase all of this at any time from Settings → Data → Reset all progress, or by uninstalling the Application. Uninstalling removes all local data.
3. Information processed when notifications are enabled
The Application uses Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service, to deliver push notifications. Notifications are optional.
If you grant notification permission, the following is processed:
- A Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token. This is a device identifier that allows a notification to reach your device. It is not linked to your name, email address, or any account, because the Application has no accounts.
- A Firebase installation identifier, together with basic technical information the Firebase SDK reports, such as your device model, operating system version, and application version.
- Your IP address, which is visible to Google’s servers as an inherent part of any internet connection.
- Topic subscriptions reflecting which notification categories you switched on: study tips, streak and milestone alerts, new content announcements, and promotional messages about the Service Provider’s other applications.
This information is used solely to deliver the notifications you asked for. It is not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not combined with any profile about you.
If you do not grant notification permission, no registration token is created and no notification data is processed. The Application remains fully usable — every study feature works without notifications.
The daily study reminder is scheduled entirely on your device by your device’s operating system. It does not involve any server and works without an internet connection. So that it survives a restart, the Application asks to be notified when your device finishes booting, and uses that only to re-schedule the reminder.
You can turn any notification category off at any time in Menu → Notification Settings, or disable notifications entirely in your device’s system settings.
4. Advertising
MockRoad displays advertisements served through Google AdMob, Google’s mobile advertising service. Ads appear:
- as a small banner near the bottom of the main screens
- as an ad card on the Home screen and between items in the road sign library
- as a full-screen ad when you open the Application, or return to it after being away for a while — never while a timed mock exam is running
- occasionally as a full-screen ad after you submit a mock exam
- as an optional rewarded video you may choose to watch in exchange for an extra mock exam retake
Ads are requested without personalization. Every ad request MockRoad sends to AdMob asks for non-personalized ads. MockRoad does not use Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) or otherwise ask for permission to track you across other apps or websites owned by other companies, and so does not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS.
Advertising partners
AdMob decides which ad to show by running an auction. Besides Google, the following partner can take part in that auction and serve the ad you see:
- Meta Audience Network (Meta Platforms, Inc. / Meta Platforms Ireland Limited)
Google’s non-personalized request is not passed on to other partners, so MockRoad separately instructs Meta to apply its Limited Data Use setting to every user of the Application, wherever they are. That setting restricts the purposes for which Meta may use the information it receives. It does not stop Meta receiving that information.
Information processed for advertising
To request, serve, and measure ads, AdMob and, when it takes part, Meta Audience Network may process:
- The Android Advertising ID, where available on your device. The Application declares the
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_IDpermission on Android for this purpose - Basic technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, and coarse (city-or-larger) location inferred from your IP address
- The fact that an ad was requested, shown, clicked, or (for the rewarded format) watched to completion, and aggregate ad performance data
This information is processed by Google and by Meta under their own privacy policies, linked in Section 7. MockRoad does not receive, store, or have access to any profile either company may build from it, and does not combine it with your name, email address, or any other identifying detail — MockRoad has none to combine it with.
You can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads on most Android devices).
AdMob is not currently configured with a dedicated consent-collection flow (such as Google’s User Messaging Platform) for the European Economic Area, the UK, or other jurisdictions that require one for advertising. If that changes, this Policy will be updated first, per Section 16.
5. Information the Application does not collect
To be explicit, the Application does not:
- Require or offer an account, and does not collect your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, or any other identifying detail
- Request or access your location, precise or approximate — the coarse, IP-derived location used for advertising (Section 4) is processed by the advertising services, not read or stored by the Application itself
- Request or access your camera, microphone, photos, contacts, files, SMS, call log, or calendar
- Contain any analytics, crash reporting, or attribution SDK
- Use the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA)
- Offer in-app purchases or subscriptions, and does not process payment information
- Upload your answers, results, or any study data to any server
6. Permissions
The Application requests only the following permissions:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
Internet access (INTERNET) |
To receive push notifications, request and display ads, and to open external links, such as a store page, in your browser or the Play Store app |
Network state (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) |
To detect whether a connection is available before attempting to reach the notification or advertising service |
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) |
To display study reminders and the notification categories you enable. Requested only when you switch a notification on, never on first launch |
Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) |
To re-schedule the on-device daily study reminder after your device restarts. Nothing is sent anywhere |
Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) |
Declared by the Google AdMob SDK to request and measure ads, as described in Section 4 |
No other permission is requested. Study content works without an internet connection; ads and notifications require one.
7. Third-party services
The Application relies on the following third-party services, which process information under their own privacy policies:
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivers push notifications, as described in Section 3
- Google AdMob (Google) — serves advertising requested without personalization, as described in Section 4
- Meta Audience Network (Meta) — an advertising partner that may serve ads through AdMob, with Limited Data Use applied, as described in Section 4
- Google Play Services (Google) — required on Android for Firebase Cloud Messaging and AdMob to operate
- Google Play In-App Review (Google) — shows Google Play’s rating prompt, occasionally, after you pass a mock exam. Any rating you leave goes to Google Play; the Application never sees it
The Application also contains links to pages on Google Play, including a screen listing other applications by the Service Provider, and to the Service Provider’s website and Facebook page. Opening one of those links hands you over to the Play Store app or your browser, which is governed by that site’s privacy policy rather than this one. No information about you is passed to those pages by the Application beyond the fact that a link was opened.
Relevant policies:
- Google Privacy Policy
- Firebase Privacy and Security
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use Google services (covers AdMob)
- Meta Privacy Policy
8. Data sharing
The Service Provider does not sell, rent, or trade your information.
Information is shared only with the third-party services named in Section 7, and only to the extent needed to deliver notifications and advertising. The Service Provider may also disclose information where required by law, valid legal process, or a lawful government request, or where necessary to protect rights and safety or to investigate fraud or misuse.
9. Data retention
| Data | Retained |
|---|---|
| Progress, answers, bookmarks, settings on your device | Until you reset progress in Settings or uninstall the Application |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token | While notifications are enabled. Revoked when you disable notifications, clear app data, or uninstall. Google expires stale tokens under its own schedule |
| Firebase technical and installation data | Under Google’s Firebase retention policies |
| Advertising ID and ad request/performance data (Section 4) | Under Google’s and, where it served the ad, Meta’s own retention policies. Not retained by the Service Provider, who never receives it |
| Support correspondence | Retained as long as needed to answer your request and to keep a record of it |
The Service Provider operates no database of users, because the Application has no accounts.
10. International transfers
Firebase Cloud Messaging and Google AdMob are operated by Google, and Meta Audience Network by Meta. Both process data on servers that may be located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Those transfers take place under each company’s own safeguards, which include Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable. See the policies linked in Section 7.
11. Your rights
Because the Application holds no account and stores your study data only on your device, you can exercise most rights directly and immediately:
- Access and portability — your study data is on your device and is not held by the Service Provider
- Erasure — use Settings → Data → Reset all progress, or uninstall the Application. Both remove all local data
- Withdraw consent for notifications — turn categories off in Menu → Notification Settings, or revoke the permission in your device settings
- Limit advertising data — reset or delete your Advertising ID in your device settings
- Stop all processing — uninstall the Application
If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. Where the Application relies on consent as its legal basis — which is the case for notifications — you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Where the Application relies on legitimate interests, that interest is the delivery of the Application’s core study features and its advertising, which is requested without personalization.
If you live in California, you have rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. The Service Provider does not sell personal information. Ads are requested without personalization, and Meta is instructed to apply its Limited Data Use setting, which Meta provides for compliance with US state privacy laws. If you would still like to object, you can do so using the contact details in Section 15.
To make a request, or to ask a question about any of the above, contact the Service Provider using the details in Section 15 with the subject line “Privacy Request”. Requests are answered within 30 days.
12. Children
The Application is a study aid for people preparing to take a driving theory or learner permit test, and is therefore aimed at users old enough to begin that process in their jurisdiction. It is not directed to children under 13, and the Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
The Application does not offer in-app purchases, social features, user-generated content, or any means of contacting another person. The advertising described in Section 4 is requested without personalization and is not directed at children.
If the Service Provider becomes aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, reasonable steps will be taken to delete it. Parents and guardians who believe this has happened should use the contact details in Section 15.
13. Security
Information transmitted between the Application and Firebase Cloud Messaging or the advertising services is encrypted in transit using TLS. The Application does not enable cleartext HTTP traffic on Android and does not disable App Transport Security on iOS.
Data stored on your device is protected by your device’s own operating system protections and by your device lock. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
14. Accuracy of study content
MockRoad is a practice tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any licensing authority, driver licensing agency, motor vehicle department, or government body in any country.
Practice questions and explanations are prepared from general driving-theory knowledge and are progressively verified against official sources. They may not reflect the most recent rule changes in your jurisdiction, and where a region has no dedicated question set the Application will tell you on screen that it is showing broader national content instead. Always confirm the rules with your official handbook or licensing authority before taking your real test. Passing a mock exam in the Application is not a prediction or guarantee of any real-world test result.
15. Contact
Questions or requests about this Privacy Policy may be sent to the Service Provider at:
Please include the subject line “Privacy Request” for rights requests under Section 11.
16. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any change will be posted on this page with a revised effective date at the top.
If a future version of the Application introduces personalized advertising, a new advertising partner, analytics, accounts, in-app purchases, or any collection not described above, this Policy will be updated before that version is released, and material changes will additionally be announced within the Application.
Continued use of the Application after a revised Policy is posted constitutes acceptance of it.
17. Consent
By using the Application, you consent to the handling of information as described in this Privacy Policy, including the advertising described in Section 4. Notifications require your separate permission, granted through your device, and can be withdrawn at any time.
